Memories from the early sixties were stirred when the Clarets took on Spurs in this Worthington Cup tie. Tottenham edged the first half and went ahead through a Gus Poyet header in the sixteenth minute. Burnley's impressive second half display was rewarded with two goals in five minutes; the first on fifty-seven minutes from a fine Robbie Blake strike followed by a superb Steve Davis header that sent the Clarets into the forth round.
