The Gunners goals came from Gilberto, José Antonio Reyes and a deflected Ashley Cole shot that went into the record books as a Mikael Silvestre own goal.

A weakened United team that gave some of the younger players an opportunity to demonstrate their skills could not prevent Arsenal running out 3-1 winners of this annual pre-season match.
