The Football Association Community Shield
This curtain-raiser to the new season, was keenly contested between the
two clubs most favoured to win domestic honours. Mikael Silvestre opened
the scoring for United on fifteen minutes before Thierry Henry equalised
for Arsenal on twenty minutes. Tim Howard impressed with two penalty shoot-out
saves as United ran out 4-3 winners on Penalties.
