About Us!
You may well have been watching television or listening to the radio when a commentator has said ‘this is surely a day to say “I was there!”. These evocative words can etch into the memory the sense of a special occasion – but until we came along, the words could well have been consigned to the ether. Wouldn’t it be great (we thought!) if those attending a really memorable sporting or other entertainment event could have something visually permanent so that they could say with pride I was there! and had something tangible to prove it.
Back in 1999 Watford defeated Bolton Wanderers at Wembley for the prize of a place in the Premiership and that is when I was there! was born. With Watford’s cooperation, we advertised in the local papers and the first Photo+Ticket edition was produced!
Soon we had secured a licence with the FA to cover the FA Cup and all England matches. There were a number of high profile matches that we covered, The last match under the old ‘Twin Towers’ of Wembley, the last FA Cup match there, ‘England on Tour’, the first match at New Wembley. We added the programme+ticket edition later, but for some time we had only really concentrated on sporting events.
By 2009 we decided to offer more products for all those ‘I was there! moments’ not covered by Photo+Ticket and Programme+Ticket editions.
Also in 2009 I Was There Ireland was born to ensure that sports fans in Ireland could also treasure their I was there! moments. I Was There in Ireland signed its first licence with Munster Rugby to cover the Heineken Cup 2008, Zurich Challenge 2008 against New Zealand and the Magners League victory in 2008/2009.
I Was There is dedicated to providing high quality framed product as a wonderful reminder of any event when you can say I was there!
